Latitude comes to the iPhone

Google has released a solution to use latitude (current location) for the iPhone.

In the last couple of the months, google released a latitude version for the Blackberry and their Android phones and this is a non-iPhone apps way and a cool way to use the iPhone 3.0 software, GPS and Safari/google to display friends around a map in the area (think quick catch ups with friends).

Thoughts, experiences, please share…

Update: Here is a note that google posted about the reason they made latitude a web app vs. iPhone app…

We worked closely with Apple to bring Latitude to the iPhone in a way Apple thought would be best for iPhone users. After we developed a Latitude application for the iPhone, Apple requested we release Latitude as a web application in order to avoid confusion with Maps on the iPhone, which uses Google to serve maps tiles.
