iTunes 8.1 and the new shuffle
One such change is iTunes DJ which allows you to share a library with friends and they can select songs from the library to play (as opposed to just randomly selecting songs from the library).
Provides AutoFill for manually managed iPods.
Apple also released an updated, larger and SLIGHTLY more expensive iPod Shuffle. The 3rd generation shuffle is a 4GB device slightly larger than a AA Battery (and costs $79).
The device uses the same small form factor and minimizes space by not putting a screen or controls on the device – instead the controls (volume, skip, playlist) is all controlled through the pressing of the headphone button (similar to how the iPhone headset works).
This is the first iPod Shuffle with voice feedback so you can know what song, artist or playlist you are listening to so you can pick a playlist and run through it without being at the whim of the electronics of the device. Great idea!
Drawback, since all is controlled through the headphones, the iPod Shuffle only works with the Apple Headphones (though Apple says some other companies will be releasing their own headphones in the coming weeks).
I know many of you know the market that is Apple iPod accessories – I would not imagine it will be too long before some nice headphones appear for people like me who do not “fit” the headphones from Apple…
Anyone see a new Shuffle or get your hands on one? Let us know.
